Made Right Here

Lace up your Made in America boots and head over to check out Max's new project!
I'm super proud of him. He's come a long way from that goofy college freshman I met as an RA. He's come an even longer way from the fraternity roommate that would jump over me to get a peak at the Pi Phis out our window. Love you Max!

M, The Mighty Quinn

Last night I had the chance to listen to my long time friend, Mike, play a solo show. He's been creating music for longer than I've known him. I've liked it all but he's come a long way since the first band I heard him in, The Kids. That evolved into Non Stop 3. Later came Confident Years but with "real" jobs that project has subsided and Mike is now focusing on M, The Mighty Quinn. He plays everything and records it all in his basement.

The best story I think he has turned into song is, #2. He's now a divorced father of 2. He wrote this song after his wife packed up her stuff and left. Left Mike, his kids, but not the towel bars. Bitch took those too. Dinner that night was served to the kinds sitting on the floor, because she decided the kitchen table was hers too. I'll shut up so you can listen.

Chick Bowdrie

Louis L'Amour is one of the great American story tellers, because I said so.
On family vacations we would listen to his stories on tape as we spent days driving West. Most of our time was spent in Wyoming hiking, learning, and hustling ax throwers. (I should right about that sometime, too) We would listen to these stories and use our imagination to see Chick riding along the highway. Now kids stare at a TV screen in the car without a clue as to where they are.

I run.

On tonight's 10 miler I came to the realization I don't think I have blog ideas because I think about all the stuff that most people blog about while I run. I'll do my best to remember what I think about so I have something to notwrite about.
Some of my friends know how much I run, some don't. These are all my kicks I am currently alternating between. That collection will end up lasting me about a year.
Officially giving this a shot again. You can either blame or thank Naurnie.

Heart of America Marathon 2011

What a day. The weather was perfect, I was awesome. Linked up with Dana around the 1 mile mark. I almost was hit by a car. It was completely my fault. Generally it isn't advisable to run out into a street when you have a red light and cars are coming and it is still dark out. Turns out this was Dana's first marathon. We chatted about running to help the time pass. It's amazing how fast the miles go by when you have someone to talk to. Eventually my guts caught up to me and I had to stop for some relief. After 6 minutes in the best port-a-potty ever I hit the trail again. Caught back up to Dana, got him to mile 22 and he told me to go on. Finished with a new PR. I recommend armature marathoners walk any major hills. Big thank you goes to Stephen for his nutrition advice, Dana for putting up and talking to a stranger, Danny for always being positive and feeding me, and Jess for being there to cheer for me like she said she would.
Can all training runs be like this?

AED

I've dusted off the defibrillator but haven't decided if I'll use it.
